5:00 on CDT. Back in NOLA! Thanks for traveling with us!!
Just crossed the border into LA!!!!
It took nearly 1500 miles but we finally found our first New Orkeans sign!! 105 miles to go!
Andre. Kate's "other" boyfriend... ( my bad .... Mom)
re ETA game.... So far andre guesses 5:00 and kim guesses 11:47 pm. And Ted, 78 is not a guess. Unless someone else guesses, Andrew is going to win!
laurel. 26 miles
Its spring below the Mason Dixon line. All green and trees budding. And 70 degrees!
sunshine, a change of drivers, hostess cupcakes and gardettos. Home stretch!
woo Tuscaloosa. At 1322 miles.
rain seems to be letting up a little.
you've never been to Alabama until you've been in the matrix with the Powell girls singing be my lover at full blast.
just relived the last hour of rain. Thank you central time zone. Anyone need a Gadsden Alabama t shirt?
stopped at the Alabama welcome center and got a new map and a chance to see the doplar radar. A whole afternoon of yellow and green rain.
joke of the day - why are rivers so rich? (Muy rico, for those Spanish speakers)
Welcome to Georgia! Where it is STILL raining! Ugh.
only 500 miles left!!!
still raining. As it turns out neither of us is a cross word puzzle whiz. Even the one from the free paper at loves trucker stop.
it is raining.
Game: what time will we arrive in Nola? Winner gets a bottle of scotch!
day 2: lovely night in Bristol. Free continental breakfast and on the road before 6:30.

Found coupon at LovesTruck Stop for $49 room at La Quinta in Bristol. Score!! 50 more miles and we'll be just under 900 total.
How I-10 and I-81 are different. I-10 is flat. Has no falling rock guards or truck climbing lanes. Man i've lived a sheltered life.
mile 700. Brainstorming ideas for new roadside diner. Auntie Sarah's pancake house?
only a few more hours to a cheap motel somewhere between Bristol and "boy you gots a purty mouth "
Passing the cut off for r&l. Tempting.
11 hours and we are still talking. Even if it is about cock fights outside of burger king.
just got 2 liters of h2o for $2. Great deal even though it guarantees our next stop will be sooner than not.
found a good radio station during mom's second nap. And Virginia is definitely the prettiest state we've driven through.
then it started raining. Bummer. Must have been some sort of Amish rain curse since we were passing through their part of the country after all.
after lunch we were both quite sleepy but I had to drive while mom got to snore away. Zzzzzzz.
sorry for the missing hours - I was driving through pa, md, northern va.
mom sang a lovely song about the Pennsylvania Dutch county, but mostly it smells like pigs here
at krumsville's finest road side diner. Shoulda gotten double fries.
to clarify- we did not leave at 4:30 am. It is currently 11:18 am.
new jersey is very brown. Don't need to come back anytime soon.
in nj. Thinking of stealing a flag. Rob, a little help?
how YOU doin?
no mystic sea port. In new York now, working on our Brooklyn accents.
welcome to rhode island. Neither a road OR an island. Hmmm. Yes. Discuss.
It is hard to blog with an iphone. More updates to follow.
